DAY 1: MARRAKECH → ATLAS MOUNTAINS → AIT BEN HADDOU → OUARZAZATE → DADES VALLEY

Our shared 3 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes starts in the morning. Leave the bustling city of Marrakech behind and drive over the High Atlas Mountains to Ouarzazate. We will have some stops along the way to enjoy the beautiful spectacles of the Atlas Mountains and to see some traditional Berber villages.

Reach Ait Ben Haddou village, where we will explore the most famous Kasbah (fortified village) in Morocco. This Kasbah is a great example of Moroccan architecture. This UNESCO World Heritage Site was used for filming parts of many popular movies & TV series such as Gladiator, Kingdom of Heaven, Babel, and Game of Thrones.

After exploring the Kasbah with our guide, we drive to Ouarzazate. The city is known as a gateway to the Sahara Desert and the Hollywood of Africa. Here, we will stop at Atlas Studio for some pictures from outside. It is the world’s largest film studio. After that, we drive to our last destination through the Valley of Roses.

If time permits, we will drive to see the unique rock formations (known as monkey toes) and the famous view of the zig-zag road in the Dades Gorges before getting to your hotel. If not, we can visit both places the day after in the morning.

DAY 2: DADES VALLEY → TODRA CANYON → MERZOUGA DESERT

After a delicious breakfast in our beautiful hotel, we will drive to Todra Gorge via Tinghir and along the Todra Valley (an oasis full of palm trees). Take a walk under the spectacular Todra Canyon before we continue driving to Merzouga.

Arrive at the town of Merzouga in the afternoon. Our camels will be waiting to take us on an authentic camel caravan across the Erg Chebbi Dunes to our luxury camp. We will stop on a high dune to watch a fantastic sunset. After sunset, we carry on to the camp.

Our camp staff will greet you with a cup of tea, then show you your private tent. Relax, and maybe take a shower before dinner time. After a tasty dinner, you will enjoy an evening of Berber music and drumming around a campfire. Our crew will teach you how to play drums as well.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA DESERT → ZIZ VALLEY → IFRANE → FES

An early wake-up today is highly recommended to watch a peaceful sunrise. After a delicious breakfast in the camp, we will leave the camp by 4×4 vehicles to the town of Merzouga. You can also choose to go back by camels again.

Start our journey to Fes by driving along the Ziz Valley, where we will have a quick stop to see this lovely oasis. Then, Continue driving to Fez through the Middle Atlas Mountains and the city of Ifrane. We will have some stops along the way. We will also have a stop by the road in a cedar forest near Ifrane to see some Barbary apes if they happen to be there! The last break will be in Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Morocco.

Our guide will suggest stopping at a small Berber shop on the second day. Here, you will get to wear a Berber outfit and take some pictures together, all for free! Then, you can buy something if you want (buying a scarf is highly recommended, especially if there is a sandstorm in the desert). However, it is not mandatory to purchase something. The first aim of the shop is to promote Berber culture.
